The long-running sci-fi TV show Doctor Who is an optimistic adventure serial, starring the titular Doctor as he saves all of space and time from all kinds of monsters and plots. Doctor Who season 12 has a startling number of Cyberman plot holes. The final three episodes of Doctor Who season 12 are - at least in part - the story of the Doctor’s most spectacular conflict with the Cybermen to date. In January 2016, Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat announced that he would be stepping down from his role at the end of season 10. The episode titles for Doctor Who season 10 debut, as the series’ showrunner teases the return of Matt Lucas as Nardole. One of the best characters to emerge from Doctor Who in recent years has been Nardole, so it’s a joy to know he’s back on a more permanent basis. The Mouse House has found success in the last decade by adapting their animated classics to live-action, sometimes with a completely new spin on the story, as was the case with Maleficent. Instead of Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) being the villain in Aurora’s (Elle Fanning) story, she became the protagonist and mother figure to the young princess....

There’s a sense in which Doctor Strange may be the most important Avenger of all - his knowledge of the Infinity Stones. Not only is he tremendously powerful in his own right, the future Sorcerer Supreme also wields the power of the Time Stone. What’s to come in Doctor Who season 12? Season 11 has only just come to an end, but it wouldn’t be Doctor Who without looking to the future. And, fitting of the show’s time travel, that future is rather unclear. Doctor Who season 11 brought about huge changes; a new showrunner in the form of Chris Chibnall, a new Doctor in the form of Jodie Whittaker, and with her came not one but three new companions, or friends as they’re now known; Yaz (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Graham (Bradley Walsh)....

The BBC’s much-loved sci-fi show Doctor Who recently brought back the famous villains known as the Cybermen. They appear to be the enemies that the Doctor will face in the season twelve finale and there’s plenty of reasons why we’re excited about that prospect. However, there’s an equal number of reasons why we’re not too bothered that the metal men have returned once more. Here are some reasons to be thrilled that the Cybermen have returned and some why we think these villains were better off left out of the series....

After 55 years, Doctor Who season 11 has finally introduced Time Lord religion. Although it’s generally been assumed that the Doctor isn’t religious, the show has always had a nuanced view of faith. Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor, for example, was deeply attracted to the Buddhism - and indeed, in “Planet of the Spiders” he met a fellow Time Lord who was living as a Buddhist Monk. Many episodes have explored the idea that powerful aliens are the basis behind legends of gods and - most frequently - devils; “The Pyramids of Mars” explored the aliens behind Egyptian mythology; “The Daemons” unveiled the creatures who inspire tales of the Devil, and “The Satan Pit” unforgettably revealed a corrupting force that even the Doctor could barely begin to explain or understand....

Jodie Whittaker confirms she will be returning for Doctor Who season 12. Whittaker made her debut as the 13th and first female incarnation of the Time Lord this season, and while the season consistently delivered strong ratings it’s been controversial. Some detractors were clearly opposed to a woman taking the role at all, and rumors even swirled that Whittaker and new showrunner Chris Chibnall would be exiting after the current season....

As a series, Doctor Who is all about change. Once you get to the core of it, everything - the protagonist, TARDIS, screwdriver, companions, and showrunners - can/will change. With regeneration, the concept has permanently been instilled in the series. The villains are no different. Daleks evolve, Cybermen upgrade, and The Master regenerates. Over the fifty-six years of the show’s history, The Master has had many faces, from Roger Delgado to Michelle Gomez....

In an age when state of the art extraterrestrials were men in makeup, the Daleks didn’t look, move or sound like anything human. They were the most ruthless aliens anyone would see until the Borg: they didn’t show mercy, they didn’t have compassion or sympathy, and they never questioned their orders....

Let’s get this out of the way first: yes, you get to play with a sonic screwdriver in VR in Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. In fact, this happens in the first ten minutes of the game, and the Doctor’s trusty tool factors into a number of the interactive sequences. Those moments will probably be exactly what fans are looking for in a licensed VR experience, but it does little to jostle the otherwise conventional gameplay and yawn-inducing set pieces which abound in the limited run-time available here....

Doctor Who initially ran from 1963 to 1989 before going on indefinite hiatus, interrupted only by a lukewarmly received TV movie in 1996, and didn’t properly return until 2005. After becoming the Ninth Doctor’s first companion, Piper’s Rose Tyler was the viewpoint character through which a new generation of viewers were introduced to the adventures of the renegade Time Lord....

Robert Downey Jr. debuts as a new version of Doctor Dolittle, but does Dolittle have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel? After wrapping up his time as Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year with Avengers: Endgame, Downey Jr’s first film coming off that success is Dolittle. In the family-friendly adventure movie, Downey Jr stars as Dr. John Dolittle, a doctor who can talk to all manner of animals - from bugs to ocean creatures....
