Doctor Who star Catherine Tate confirmed that she would be up for coming back for the show’s new seasons starring Jodie Whittaker as the thirteenth Doctor. Tate, known for her comedy work in The Catherine Tate Show and a recurring role in The Office, first appeared on Doctor Who as the fiery and indomitable Donna Noble in 2006. She later boarded the TARDIS as the tenth Doctor (David Tennant)’s regular companion in the fourth season, and exited the show, along with Tennant, in 2010....

It’s been a long year for Whovians. Fans of the BBC series Doctor Who have had some serious downs in 2016; from Netflix removing the show from their streaming catalogue, to the announcement that the upcoming 10th season of the classic series would be the last for showrunner Stephen Moffat (Sherlock), to the news that there would be no new season of Doctor Who until the spring of 2017. Whovians are nothing if not loyal, however, and while there are still many months between now and the next season premiere, that doesn’t mean there’s not a lot to look forward to....

The internal document (via Engadget) is a report written by privacy engineers from the Facebook Ad team, and it was sent to the company’s leaders. It’s time to return to the Overlook Hotel, as the ending of The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep finds Dan Torrance, now a grown man, back in the decaying remains of the building that almost killed him as a child. Directed by Mike Flanagan and based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, Doctor Sleep expands the mythology of The Shining and brings Dan Torrance’s character arc to a poignant close....

Out of all the Doctor’s incarnations we’ve seen on Doctor Who, the most popular ones just might be the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors. Both of these were far younger than usual incarnations of the Time Lord and brought in many more fans for the show. You can find a richer history in the many comics that have come as a result. On the face of things, these versions of the Doctor might seem similar, but one did do better than the other in specific departments....

Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall confirmed that Jo Martin is “definitively the Doctor.” The latest episode of Doctor Who, “Fugitive of the Judoon,” introduced viewers to a never-before-seen incarnation of the Doctor. Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor and her TARDIS family arrived in Gloucester to investigate an alien invasion, and soon learned that the police/mercenaries were hunting down a mysterious fugitive. The fugitive in question turned out to be a “new” version of the Doctor, played by actress Jo Martin....

When the fifth season of Doctor Who premiered, it marked the beginning of a new era. The next decade of Who would be defined by Steven Moffat’s incredible writing that leaned heavily on fairytale motifs while constantly challenging Doctor Who mythos without ever sacrificing the show’s core values. His era of the show featured complex characters. beautiful growth for each of them, and he began it with a girl in a house much too big for her, named Amelia Pond....

The latest episode of Doctor Who, “It Takes You Away,” was a poignant examination of the human experience of grief and loss. It saw the Doctor and her friends stumble upon a Norwegian cabin that had been boarded up, and attempt to help the stranded child who had been abandoned inside the cottage. They soon found themselves plunged into what may be the most confusing Doctor Who adventures in years, exploring a Mirror Dimension inhabited by a cosmic force that ultimately elected to manifest itself as a talking frog....

Doctor Who season 10 begins filming on Monday, June 20, the last with Steven Moffat as showrunner. The show will see Peter Capaldi take control of the TARDIS once more, which is also widely expected (though far from confirmed) to be his last outing too. Joining him as the new companion will be Pearl Mackie, in her first major television role. The actress is currently performing to critical acclaim in London’s West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime....
