If you’ve been keeping up with the most recent season of British sci-fi series Doctor Who, you’ll know that a classic character made a welcome return to our screens for the first time in many, many years. The show itself has been running since the 1960s, and Captain Jack hasn’t been around that whole time, but ever since 2005’s ‘The Empty Child’ his flamboyant charm has enthralled audiences. His trademark wit and brash braveness have also afforded him the ability to carry out a fair few shameless deeds....

The official BBC Doctor Who Twitter account recently shared a delightful picture of the new Doctor (Jodie Whitaker) and franchise favorite River Song (Alex Kingston) together at SDCC 2018. The photo was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans who have come to love River Song over the course of the past several seasons. Doctor Who introduced River Song during David Tennant’s run as the Tenth Doctor in the episode “Silence in the Library”....

Fresh out of the gate, Marvel Studio’s latest franchise film, Doctor Strange, has already carved out an enviable place for itself amidst the rank and file of other Marvel Cinematic Universe tentpoles like Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Guardians of the Galaxy. The new superhero movie directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister) and starring Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) has already charted to the top of the box office over the course of the past two weekends, and has made well over $150 million in domestic ticket sales alone....

It may seem a world away, but it hasn’t been that long since Marvel proved they could make any property a hit as Doctor Strange won over critics and audiences alike. In fact, the movie just bowed out of theaters last week, ending its theatrical run with a global box office total of $675 million. That places the film in the top 100 earners of all time, and ensures Doctor Strange will be getting a sequel (which Scott Derrickson may return to direct)....

Director Scott Derrickson made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut helming Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character. This was, arguably, the first magical character to enter the MCU and had a lot of responsibility to teach the audience about a different corner of the Marvel mythology than they were used to seeing with the Avengers characters. While it’s not yet clear if Derrickson will be back behind the camera for Doctor Strange 2, many fans would like nothing more than to let him continue building out the mythos that he has already started to develop....

Doctor Strange represents the second chapter of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which begins in just a few short weeks with Captain America: Civil War. And since Civil War’s red carpet world premiere took place today, Disney and Marvel are utilizing the buzz to promote their other 2016 tentpole....

When a classic piece of media is rebooted, fans will always find themselves divided on whether the original or the reboot was the better one. Many fans are loyal to the original and swear off the reboot entirely. Some fans connect better with the reboot. Doctor Who’s new Master reveals that he has no remorse for making the Doctor regenerate in a classic series episode from 1981. Season 12 of Doctor Who began with style, both of the literal and narrative kind, as the TARDIS crew suited up as secret agents for the “Spyfall” two-parter. By far the biggest talking point, however, has been the introduction of Sacha Dhawan as the Master. Teaming up with a previously-unseen alien race called the Kasaavin and an evil tech entrepreneur on Earth, the Master hatches a plan to destroy the entire human race, kill the Doctor and cause maximum carnage....

So far, Jodie Whittaker and new showrunner Chris Chibnall’s take on the Doctor has yielded the long-running sci-fi series strong ratings and plenty of critical praise, but that success apparently isn’t enough for star, showrunner, or broadcaster to hastily put the show back into production for its twelfth season, leaving audiences with a TARDIS-sized hole in their viewing schedules for the coming year....

Tim Burton’s Dumbo is a live-action retelling of Disney’s animated classic - but does it have a post-credits scene or other tease after the credits? The original Dumbo was released in 1941 and was one of Walt Disney Animation’s shortest movies, coming in at just over an hour. The movie tells the story of a baby elephant born with ears much larger than a typical elephant, but those ears give baby Dumbo the unique ability to fly....
