Fans of last year’s Doctor Sleep have undoubtedly heard that Mike Flanagan has just released his own director’s cut. Flanagan added approximately 30 more minutes of content to the existing film, bumping it up to a run-time of three hours. Doctor Sleep is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. It’s the sequel to King’s iconic novel, The Shining. Doctor Sleep follows a grown-up Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor), who suffers from alcoholism just like his father, trying to escape his shine....

Doctor Strange and the Masters of the Mystic Arts can still travel in time - even without the Time Stone. The Masters of the Mystic Arts have kept the Time Stone for centuries at least, if not longer. They considered the Time Stone to be their greatest weapon, with both the Ancient One and Doctor Strange using it to explore future timelines and work out how to engineer events to prevent cosmic catastrophes....

Doctor Strange challenged viewers to open their minds to experience something unlike anything Marvel had presented before. This was not just an indication that magic was in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a promise that the visuals would be something completely unique. The earliest marketing drew comparisons to Christopher Nolan’s Inception thanks to buildings folding in on themselves, but Doctor Strange took this to a completely new level. As if the exploration of multiple dimensions was not trippy enough, the film’s more revolutionary visual scene came in the third act....

Marvel Studios has announced that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the official title for the Sorcerer Supreme’s next solo film. Benedict Cumberbatch first assumed the role of Dr. Stephen Strange in 2016’s Doctor Strange before later appearing alongside the rest of the MCU in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. This sequel will pick up with Strange following the events of Endgame and will see him begin more deeply exploring the mysteries of the multiverse....

Scott Derrickson is returning to direct Doctor Strange 2. Marvel Studios is just starting to reveal details on the end of Phase 3, but their Phase 4 plans are already beginning to take shape. One major question regarding how things could shake out though was the status of the next solo movie for Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Who archivist Paul Vanezis, who discovered four missing episodes in Cyprus back in the ’80s, has offered hope for fans all over the world; he believes the 97 lost episodes could yet be recovered. According to Vanezis, the black and white episodes are in the hands of private collectors. Throughout the 1960s and the 1970s, the BBC tended to tape over old recordings. The reality is that the television medium was still fresh and new, and the BBC didn’t see long-lasting value in episodes....

For the foreseeable future, it appears as though there will be no shortage of roles available in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3 of the films has only just begun and Marvel has tentative plans heading into Phase 4 already. On the TV side of the universe, Marvel is expanding their reach as far as they can. They have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, an entire lineup of shows in NYC on Netflix, and are planning to bring Runaways to Hulu and Cloak & Dagger to Freeform....

Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies has revealed brief descriptions of his possible future Doctors in a new novel. The upcoming sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange is said to be full of surprises. Hopefully once it can get its behind-the-scenes troubles squared away, following the exit of director Scott Derrickson, fans will get an idea of the direction the film will go. Doctor Strange 2 is set to be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to really embrace the horror genre (though not as much as originally thought), as the Sorcerer Supreme navigates the multiverse, an aspect of the story that could lead to some exciting possibilities....

Doctor Strange has only just been released in many areas across the world, but the movie is already exceeding expectations. It got off to a strong start last weekend during its initial release overseas, setting Marvel Studios’ latest film up to do even better than expected for the worldwide release. It was projected to do between $65-$70 million, but it became clear after the impressive Friday night haul helped push the movie to an estimated $85 million domestically in its opening weekend....

At this year’s Comic-Con, Marvel Studios officially announced their sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange, which will be titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and is set to bring the Sorcerer Supreme into alternate realities with Scarlet Witch. Director Scott Derrickson is set to return and Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams are all due to reprise their roles. The first Doctor Strange movie wasn’t terrible by any means, but it was also far from perfect....
