Yesterday brought news that Marvel Studios’ latest MCU blockbuster, Doctor Strange, was set to take the crown of #1 movie at the domestic box office for the second weekend in a row. Now, the international market numbers for the film’s second weekend are in, and they’ve only reinforced the positivity of the film’s overall financial outlook. It would seem that the future Sorcerer Supreme has succeeded in casting quite the spell on audiences worldwide....

Doctor Who viewers will be familiar with a different opening credits sequence, depending on whether they live in the U.K. or U.S. First airing on British TV in the 1960s, Doctor Who debuted with psychedelic, swirling opening titles that have gone on to achieve iconic status. Doctor Who’s original intro was created by Bernard Lodge, who used the feedback from a TV camera pointing at a monitor to achieve that famous twirling visual....

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer and poster for director Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep adaptation. Based on Stephen King’s sequel novel to The Shining (which he published in 2013), Doctor Sleep picks up with Danny Torrance as an older man who’s still psychologically scarred by what happened to him as a child. Ewan McGregor stars in the film version as the grownup Danny, who decides to try and get sober - having spent many years drinking in order to suppress his shining powers - and starts a job at a hospice where he uses his abilities to provide comfort to dying patients (earning him the eponymous nickname)....

The latest episode of Doctor Who, “Can You Hear Me?,” reintroduced a classic enemy called the Eternals - but also retconned their history and powers. Doctor Who season 12 has been a strange beast, with most episodes so overstuffed with ideas that could do with being turned into two-parters; “Can You Hear Me?” is just the latest example. The plot saw the Doctor and her fam stumble upon a powerful being named Zellin, a parasitic entity who was secretly manipulating them into freeing his fellow Eternal, Rakaya....

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has clarified that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will not be a horror movie. Marvel announced their Phase 4 slate at San Diego Comic-Con, and the Doctor Strange sequel immediately captured fans’ imaginations. This time round, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme will be joined by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch - possibly as an ally, possibly as an enemy. During the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H at SDCC, director Scott Derrickson stated that he would be making the first scary MCU film....

The Doctor Who season 11 finale featured the return of this season’s first villain - Tzim-Sha, the would-be ruler of the Stenza who the Doctor insists on calling “Tim Shaw” - but it’s led to even more questions. It’s been over 3,000 years since Tim Shaw last crossed paths with the Doctor and her friends, and his mind has fractured over the course of the millennia. He’s gone full-on megalomaniac, seeking to destroy anyone who ever opposed the Stenza - even though the episode subtly implies the Stenza Empire has long since collapsed....

Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan makes a good counter argument against Martin Scorsese’s criticisms of Marvel films by using The Irishman director’s own words. The discussion continues regarding Scorsese’s comments about the MCU, dubbing its films “not cinema.” Over the last couple of weeks, various people have weighed in on the matter - some pushing back on the veteran filmmaker’s sentiments, while others agreed with him. The controversial topic caught second wind when Francis Ford Coppola came out and straightly called the franchise “despicable....

Marvel’s Doctor Strange had a lot of fun playing around with spatial reality by staging many of its biggest battles in the Mirror Dimension, a place where wizards can literally bend space at a whim. This led to all sorts of awesome Inception-like visuals, and became a big selling-point for the movie before it came out last November. Early trailers wowed audiences with scenes of whole cities being warped and distorted like so much folding paper; in the movie things got even more spectacular and, at times, downright psychedelic....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue its expansion with Phase 3, starting in May with Captain America: Civil War and continuing in November with the introduction of the Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange. The latter will also contribute to the expanding cosmic side of the MCU, which started last year with Guardians of the Galaxy. Doctor Strange has already started filming and it is expected to finish in March, so it’s only fair that we start getting more details on Marvel’s darkest story up to date....

Earlier this week, Apple issued a candid apology for how it handled the rollout of a feature that balances iPhone performance with aging batteries. The apology came after growing resentment from some users and a slew of lawsuits. In addition to the “We’re sorry,” Apple also announced discounted battery replacements for affected users. Jodie Whittaker describes how she panicked and thought she was playing the Doctor wrong when she saw Peter Capaldi regenerate into her. Doctor Who is a cult-favorite sci-fi program on BBC that follows a human-looking alien called “The Doctor.” He ran away from his home planet (Gallifrey) after stealing a machine known as the T.A.R.D.I.S that can travel through time and space, and he has been traveling ever since. The show has a run of almost 60 years thanks to the Doctor’s regenerative abilities, which allows a new actor to step in and assume the role every few years....

When Peter Capaldi first regenerated into Jodie Whittaker, the Doctor didn’t just change their appearance and gender, but also received the customary personality overhaul. Although every new version of the Doctor brings a shuffled set of quirks and characteristics, the difference between the Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors was pronounced. In her first season, Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor was arguably the most moral incarnation of the Time Lord yet, always giving her enemies the benefit of mercy and chastising her companions for even vaguely looking in the direction of a gun....

Now that Jodie Whittaker has completed her first season as The Doctor, and established her place as the Thirteenth regeneration, the upcoming 12th season is set to feature a few familiar foes. As much as we’re enjoying Whittaker’s rapport with Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill as Graham, Ryan and Yaz, it’s always interesting when former companions meet new versions of the Timelord. We’ve enjoyed Whittaker’s performance so much, we want to see her with some of our favorite friends and companions from the newer episodes....

Benedict Cumberbatch will reportedly get paid a lot more to star in Doctor Strange 2. Marvel Studios is known for making stars, but they’ve also brought on their fair share of established ones. None may have been as big as getting Cumberbatch to play Stephen Strange in the MCU, as he was at the top of many fan wish-lists. Strange’s solo movie was a success, but fans have really taken to him since Avengers: Infinity War....

Alan Cumming has been cast in a guest role for the forthcoming eleventh season of Doctor Who. Progress is continuing apace on Jodie Whittaker’s debut run as the iconic Time Lord meddler and filming is very much underway. With the core cast of the Doctor and her companions already in place, on-set photos have revealed that the Doctor’s robotic partner, K-9, is likely to be returning to the show and one particular episode this season will seemingly explore the story of civil rights trailblazer, Rosa Parks....
